Graduate students

Dr. Qu advises students in the MS in Kinesiology, Movement Science program at San José State University. Students in the lab learn to design human-participant studies, collect and analyze movement and physiological data, and communicate findings at conferences and in journals. Backgrounds in kinesiology, biomechanics, neuroscience, psychology, engineering, or data science are all welcome. Programming experience is helpful but not required.

If you are interested, email Dr. Qu with a short description of your interests, your CV, and a note on which of our research themes you find most compelling.

Undergraduate research assistants

SJSU undergraduates can gain hands-on research experience in the lab, from assisting with data collection to learning movement analysis. Time commitments are agreed on individually. Email Dr. Qu with your year, major, availability, and why you are interested.

Take part in a study

Our studies depend on volunteers from the community, including older adults and neurodivergent adults. What participation involves depends on the study, and every study is approved by the SJSU Institutional Review Board before it recruits. If you would like to hear about current and upcoming studies, please get in touch.

Collaborate

We welcome conversations with researchers, clinicians, and community partners who share an interest in human movement and the nervous system, in any population and at any stage of life. See our current collaborators.
